I know, I know. Many of you would shake your fist at me for ever dissing those orange orbs that grace front porches everywhere this fall, but your hands are full–one with a Pumpkin Spice Latte and the other with a pumpkin muffin. Here’s the deal. I used to love pumpkin-flavored everything, from warm drinks to cold pumpkin pie ice cream. But now? It must be these pregnancy hormones. It all just sounds so…gross.

These things were HUGE! I don’t have dainty hands.

As a blog ambassador for Whole Foods, I was give the opportunity to talk about some of my favorite fall-inspired foods. And wouldn’t you know, I’m all about that apple right now. I mean, local apples in season are just so crispy, sweet and delicious. I can’t get enough. I’m a frequent customer …

When Arts Partners asked if I’d like to attend Arty Party with my girls, write about my experience, and also give away some tickets on my Facebook page, I was intrigued. I’d heard of Arts Partners, thanks to a wildly successful social media fundraising campaign, ArtDOG (Art Day of Giving) earlier this year. The campaign, a project of the Wichita Community Foundation and The Arts Council, brought funds and awareness to the many arts organizations serving our area. Obviously, it worked. Arts Partners was on my radar, at least. Here’s a little more about what they do:

…a comprehensive educational program that integrates visual and performing arts into all areas of the curriculum through the planned use of community cultural resources. Arts Partners inspires creativity and learning by using the arts to …

This may be hard to believe, but when I was a young child, I didn’t like cheese. Wait, what? What kind of kid turns their nose up at grilled cheese, cheeseburgers, and the coveted mac & cheese? This kid. I hated it. Gagged at the thought. I even remember a time when a babysitter fixed me a cheese and mayonnaise sandwich, which I refused to eat. I threw it in the trash, and GET THIS, she retrieved it out and made me eat it anyway! I still remember the taste of Miracle Whip and sliced American filling my mouth as I fought the urge to hurl it all back up. Ick!

But somewhere along the way, I actually came across some good cheese. Some real cheese, not that nasty, processed, fake yellow stuff. That somewhere was my grandparent’s home at …

She gripped her Abby Cadabby tightly before, during and after the show.

I have a funny to story to tell. About a time my husband and I were driving two girls home. They were laughing and carrying on like crazies in the back seat. Giggling uncontrollably and speaking incoherently. And then, they had the nerve to ask us to pull over on a dirt road in the middle of the country so they could pee. Can you believe it? Well, I can. Because it was last week. And it wasn’t a couple of drunks. It was our daughters, buzzing on a sugar rush after ingesting cotton candy and snow cones. I looked at my husband and laughed. As tired as we were, and as annoyed/amused I was at my daughters’ behavior, I knew this was …

Experts agree that kids who read during the summer gain reading skills, while those who do not often slide backward. Keep the kiddos excited about reading with our awesome summer reading experience. They’ll enjoy fun activities, exciting games, and their own customizable dragon!

I have fond memories of participating in the BOOK IT! program as a child, even though we weren’t fortunate enough to have a Pizza Hut near us. (We made it work, but that’s our little secret.) When Pizza Hut contacted me about checking out their new summer reading site and doing a review/giveaway on my blog, I was all over it like mozzarella on a pan crust. Sorry, that was cheesy. 😉

While my oldest is not quite reading age, both of my girls love books. My toddler begs for book after book …

My little fam headed into the greatest show on earth.

“Mommy, where da elephants?”

As my toddler sat patiently in my lap while the ceremony began, I found it very odd that she would ask this question. We were, after all, not under “the big top,” but in a large auditorium watching not red-sequined trapeze artists, but red-gowned future graduates taking their seats. I could see how she might be confused though. Just a week ago, we sat in a large arena, waiting among a crowd eagerly anticipating a fantastic event.

As the pomp and circumstance began, I kissed her auburn hair, and let my mind linger back to a magical family moment at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus at Intrust Bank Arena. I was happy to receive tickets from …
