Pinterest IRL: Comfy Crib Seat
A friend of mine mentioned the other day that she wished she could wave a magic wand and magically make things from Pinterest appear in her home. I hear ya, sister. I’m not much of a crafty person, so I feel a little incredulous that people are actually making what they see on Pinterest rather than just idly pinning and pining away. So I’ve decided to start sharing things that my friends (and possibly me if I get a wild hair) have tried for themselves. (And in case you didn’t know, IRL means “in real life.”)
My friend Ashlei is brave enough to try Pinterest ideas herself and has written up reviews on her blog. You can check that out here.
So here’s my first Pinterest IRL, a comfy seat my friend Aimee created using an old crib. (And a changing table cut down for a coffee table.) Genius!

Here’s what Aimee had to say about the process:
I got the bed for free because someone threw it out. The mattress was free from a neighbor who graduated her toddler to a big girl bed. I got a $5 shower curtain from Wal-Mart for the seat cover. I had extra pillows already so I just bought super cheap pillow cases from Wal-Mart. I debated on painting it white and i still might but I like the weathered wood look. Before I fancied it up I used 2x4s to reinforce the spring platform on the bottom so it would hold the weight of 2 adults. All in all I think I made the whole thing for less than $10. And I have to say that it is INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE. My daughter almost fell asleep on it! Also it only took me about a half an hour to make. The majority of the time was spent cutting the wood.
I might just have to find a cozy nook in my home for a seat like this soon. And who knows? Maybe my girls will just decide to take a spontaneous nap there. (A mom can dream, right?)
