High Pressure Doesn’t Have to be Part of the Car Buying Process

Hooray! Help me celebrate my first Sponsored Post. This business person was smart enough to know that my readers are pretty smart, too. Enjoy!

Looking for a low pressure, honest car salesman? Meet Hamilton Richardson of Scholfield Hyundai West in Wichita, Kansas.

When it comes to things I love doing, shopping for a car is probably #98. Followed closely by having a root canal and having a burst of air shot into my pupil at the eye doctor. (Yes, that teeny puff of air is worse that having dental work done, in my opinion.) But, I actually found a way to make the process a bit more manageable. Find a salesperson you trust. So, I did.

When looking to upsize from a Honda Accord (I’d just had my second child), I sent out a request on Twitter. Something like, “I need a bigger vehicle but I’m not ready for a minivan!” Low and behold, I got a reply from @HammyRichardson. He said he could help, whenever I was ready. I have to admit I was a little skeptical. I mean, car salesmen are all the same, right?

Happily, I was wrong. He made a few suggestions from vehicles that were on the lot, and my husband and I went into town to test drive a few. I was ready to negotiate, play hard ball, not put up with any funny business. But, Hamilton is one of the most easy-going, patient people I’ve ever met. He answered all of our questions (I had many), and didn’t put the pressure on. He was assertive, but not pushy. To me, this is the perfect combo. I want someone who will work hard to make the sale, but not leave you wanting to bolt out the door when they bring on the heat.

We ended up purchasing a Hyundai Santa Fe, which was SO much easier to get the girls in and out of than the Honda. Now, full disclosure, if our little family grows, our vehicle will, too. Nevertheless, our purchase went smoothly and I drove away a happy momma. But it was the service after the sale that impressed me the most. Hamilton checked in every once in awhile, to make sure everything was going well.

So, if you’re looking for a new or used vehicle, or “just looking,” you might want to give Hamilton a call, or tweet, or email. And if you’ve never given a Hyundai a spin, you might be surprised to learn that Scholfield Hyundai offers the best warranty (new or used) available, and has the most fuel efficient vehicles out on the road (four vehicles at 38+ miles per gallon).

Here are some models you might be interested in. Hamilton would be more than happy to let you test drive one for yourself, and he’ll make the sales process a breeze should you decide to make a purchase. (But no pressure, he’s just not like that. Thank goodness.)

  1. Cat I am so happy to read that you had such a great experience! A huge kudos to Hamilton for being an honest person and a good businessman.
I was also in car sales for years before moving into the service department at our dealership where I am now a warranty admin.
I love the industry and love hearing positive stories, because we are not all bad! People like Hamilton will change the face of the industry.

    Great post!

  2. I owned a 2004 Santa Fe and LOVED it. I sold it this summer because the new santa fe will have much better gas mileage… AND, because my family is very large now that I’ve remarried, I will be waiting for the LWB (Long Wheel Base) Santa Fe which comes out in a few months… it will have a third row to accommodate my extra bodies. 🙂 I do work for Hyundai now, I work with Hamilton… but I chose to work for Hyundai last January because it is a brand that I love and can promote with pride and confidence. Thanks for the great write up. 🙂

  3. Wish we had a Hamilton on the East Coast. Wish all auto sales people could be as fabulous as this guy. Take note…you could all learn something.
